About the Club

Warwickshire Cricket Club Visually Impaired has been set up to engage and competes in the sporting sector to enable young children and adults to be able to participate at a sport that they love.

In 2005 the club was re-named as Warwickshire Cricket Club Visually Impaired, after many previous years known as Birmingham Sports. Due to the name change the club was forced to start from the bottom and were therefore placed in Division two. The club failed to gain promotion in their first season, missing out on the final day of the season. Ever since the club has gained promotion, and won the league title on a couple of seasons.

The Competition has now been changed to a one league format, and has also been joined with the Blind Cricket Twenty20 competition. Warwickshire have become somewhat of a Twenty20 club, winning the tournament in it's first ever two seasons in 2009 and 2010.

In 2011 the club reached the Knockout cup final for the second time, following their runners up position in 2008. The club went on and won the competition for the first time in the club's history, claiming a 5 wicket win over Welsh Dragons. The match will remain in history throughout Blind Cricket, and also in the history of the club for different reasons.

Over the last couple of years the club has been blessed with several international players such as Nathan Foy, Luke Sugg, Mark Turnham, Roy Turnham, Dave Powers and Jagdish Pata. The club is also very keen to relate to the younger generation and this is backed up with both Justin Hollingsworth and Ryan Leighton being named in the England training squad, ready for the Ashes in May 2012.

The club is based in Leamington Spa and play all home games at Leamington Cricket Club. Please see the fixtures section for any dates of matches and come along to show an interest, or simply show your support. There will always be a club member open to talk about how the game is played, and also how you could potentially get involved. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
